WordPress and custom
Why we no longer work with WordPress
We no longer build websites on WordPress. We build custom with Lovable: our own code, our own database and integrations that fit what your business does. On this page you can read why, what you get in return and when WordPress is perfectly fine.
Why we switched
For years we built with WordPress. More and more often, clients got stuck on the same things: a site that slowed down, updates that never stop, plugins that get in each other's way, and a system that decides what you can build instead of the other way around.
Finding a plugin that almost does what you want is not the same as building exactly what you need. And every plugin is someone else's component that has to be kept up to date.
What we do now
We build custom with Lovable and AI, with our own code, our own database and integrations with the tools you already use. What a plugin used to do, we build as a permanent part of your site. We do not do that without checks: how we handle code, security, data and monitoring is described on How we build.
How we build →When WordPress is perfectly fine
For a simple site that is mostly text and a blog, without special integrations, WordPress works well. If you already have a WordPress site that does what you need, you do not have to move.
It changes when you keep needing extra plugins for things that belong to your business, or when speed and findability matter to you.
Two examples from practice
Heart in Communication ran on a WordPress site with no connected back office. A calendar, course overviews in Excel and a separate mailing tool meant a lot of manual work. Now there is one workspace where scheduling, courses, payments and mailings come together.
Coverjunkie, the world's largest magazine cover archive, ran on WordPress, where adding new covers was cumbersome. The site moved to a new platform where access follows automatically from Substack subscriptions and covers are easier to add.
Frequently asked questions
Why do you no longer work with WordPress?
Because our clients kept running into the same limits: slowness, updates, plugins that clash and a system that decides what is possible. With custom we build exactly what a business needs, without a stack of plugins.
Is WordPress insecure?
Not in itself. But WordPress, the theme and every plugin need regular updates. The more components from others, the more has to be kept up to date. With custom there are far fewer third party components.
Do I have to move if my WordPress site works well?
No. If your site works, is fast enough and gets found, there is no reason to move. If you are unsure, we can show you where you stand with a check.
What happens to my content and addresses if I move?
We carry over your content and make sure existing addresses are forwarded to the new pages, so you lose as little as possible of what is already found. What exactly has to stay, we record up front in a plan.
What does custom cost compared to WordPress?
The amounts are close to each other. The difference is in what you get in return. The page about costs explains that.

First a plan, then move
Unsure whether moving is for you? With the WordPress check and migration plan for 195 euro we look at your plugins, theme, content, forms, speed, security and findability. You get a plan as a pdf. If you move with us afterwards, we deduct this amount from the move.
