Moving from WordPress

Moving from WordPress to a custom site

Moving from WordPress to custom is not a matter of copy and paste. Your content and the addresses that are already found have to come along. That is why we always start with a check and a plan, and only build after that.

First look at what is there

We go through your plugins, theme, content, forms, speed, security and findability, and record what has to stay, such as the addresses and the positions you already have in Google. That is the WordPress check and migration plan.

You get a plan as a pdf with a fixed price for the move. If you continue with us, we deduct the amount of the check from the move.

What happens next

We build the new site with our own code and database and carry over your content. What a plugin used to do, we build as a permanent part of the site. We forward existing addresses to the new pages, so visitors and Google do not run into an empty page.

What you do not have to do

You do not have to export anything or translate it to a new system. We take care of the move, you keep doing your work.

When moving is not necessary

If your WordPress site works, is fast and gets found, you do not have to move. Moving pays off mostly when you keep needing extra plugins, when maintenance takes a lot of time or when you want something a theme cannot do.

An example: Coverjunkie

Coverjunkie has been the world's largest magazine cover archive since 2010. The site ran on WordPress, where adding new covers was cumbersome. We moved the site completely to a new platform, without losing content or history. Access is now linked to Substack subscriptions and management is simpler.

Frequently asked questions about moving

Will I lose my place in Google if I move?

Nobody can promise that. What we do is carry over your content and forward the addresses that are found now to the new pages, so you lose as little as possible.

What does the check and plan cost?

195 euro. If you move with us afterwards, we deduct that amount from the move.

What do I get after the check?

A plan as a pdf: what is there, what has to stay, what can be different and a fixed price for the move.

Do I have to do anything myself?

Nothing technical. We only ask you to look along at what has to stay and to review the new site.

What if I would rather stay on WordPress?

Then that is a perfectly good outcome. The check also shows what you can improve on your current site.

First a plan, then move
