What is workslop?
Workslop is the pile of half finished, AI generated content and documents that builds up when AI tools are not connected to the rest of the business.
Definition
Workslop is work made with AI that delivers no real value, such as half finished documents, automatically generated texts or reports nobody actually uses, usually created because standalone AI tools are not connected to the rest of the business.
Context
The term emerged as more and more businesses started using AI tools side by side without connecting them to each other. A standalone AI writing tool here, a separate chatbot there, a summarising tool somewhere else. Each tool works on its own, but nobody keeps an overview of everything being produced or whether it actually serves a purpose.
The result is a pile of documents and texts that look professional at first glance, but that nobody reads, uses or needs. Instead of saving time, workslop actually costs time: someone still has to judge whether the output is correct and usable.
The solution is not to use less AI, but to use AI within a system where the output actually lands where it is needed, such as directly in the customer file, the planning or the website, instead of as a standalone document that ends up sitting somewhere unused.
