What is vibe coding?
Vibe coding is building software by describing in plain language what you want, after which AI writes the code, as on the Lovable platform.
Definition
Vibe coding is a way of building software in which someone describes in plain language what needs to be made, after which AI writes the code, as on platforms like Lovable.
Context
The term emerged in early 2025 and quickly grew into a serious way of building, from first versions to full platforms. The result is not a template or a demo, but a real codebase that is fully owned by the client and can be developed further without being tied to a platform.
Speed is the big advantage: a first working version is ready in weeks instead of months. Quality depends on who is guiding the process. AI writes the code, but someone has to judge whether it is secure, fast and well structured. Vibe coding therefore does not replace expertise, it moves it from typing to steering and reviewing.
